Please, easy DVD disc playback for the non-tech savvy people in our home. Seems like this is a popular one, both this year and last year, but it still hasn’t happened. Netflix and Blockbuster online are not going away any time soon… make it easy for wives and kids to play DVDs.
When my wife tries to use Plex, she goes into “Watch Movies” to try and play the DVD she just put in. But its not there.
Even better, just start playing the movie….

Concentrate on the core application (remotes, Snow Leopard, Library, Performance and DVD!) and good integration with established products like EyeTV, SqueezeServer, home automation apps etc…

Plug-ins – not really a lot of use in the UK, sorry. Ones that are good (like the ones mentioned above) aren’t supported anymore or being developed. So to be honest not really bothered about them at all…

yeah i own “none of the above” for mandatory question 14 too.

i guess a pvr setup might be nice – does the old xbmc mythtv plugin work on plex, although i think that was just frontend, not actual recording like eyetv.

don’t bother with plex for windows, there’s xbmc for that.

what about the new apple remote, does that work ok, are the extra buttons used? i can’t buy one the new mac mini’s until snow leopard/remote issues are sorted.

is anyone working on the uk tv plugins – iplayer still has issues/limitations and 4od/demandfive don’t even work anymore, anyone working on itvplayer?

Can you shove a physical dvd in the drive and Plex plays it automaticly yet?

Hi there,

the cable/sat question is hard to answer. I dont watch live TV ! All recordings from cable/sat go directly onto the plex folder.

So live TV has dropped to zero with plex, but cable/sat use has increased due to the recordings.

Plex means: watch what you want when you want !

thx for plex, plz dont port it to Windows, improve it for Mac first !
Its the ONLY real media player for the Mac

How about proper support for DVD playback? That’s my number one. I’m not using DVDs often but when I do it’s always cumbersome. It’s not child or wife proof yet…
