- How do I add internet video such as TED, YouTube, CNET etc?
- Internet sources are added using the App Store found in the Applications menu. See the following screencast for more info. vimeo.com/3315184
- One of the plug-ins has stopped working.
- If a plug-in stops working, it’s likely that the structure of the site changed. This doesn’t happen very frequently with most sites, but it’s a definite possibility. When this occurs, an entity we call the “Campfire Robot” springs into action automatically and tracks us down to let us know, and shortly thereafter we can push an update. As such, if a site stops working, the best thing to do is to check the App Store for updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, check your install history to see if an update got installed while you were getting coffee.
- I don’t see the Applications Menu Item.
- If you previously used v5 of Plex we suggest deleting the folder called Plex found in ~/Library/Application Support/. Many things have changed and a fresh install will ensure the best performance with Plex.
- How do I make Movies and TV Shows show up in their respective areas with poster art, plot info, etc?

Weekend Plug-in Extravaganza
We’re got another batch of plug-ins to liven up your weekend. As usual, we’ve gotten a lot of help on these, and we really appreciate all the comments on and suggestions for the framework. There are now over 40 plug-ins available, and the App Store has only been open for three weeks! We look forward to getting more coverage for our international users, and are happy to provide help to developers in these countries, since many times we don’t have access to the foreign content (silly media providers). Specifically, we’ve been assisting some Swedish users on a plug-in which we’re excited about.
I’ll start with a shout out to our users in Britain, who will be overjoyed to see an iPlayer plugin. We’ve got at least one more British plug-in in the works as well. James has been working on this plug-in for a while, and it’s a real labor of love. With BBC iPlayer you can catch up with shows from the past seven days that you’ve missed or want to watch again, or watch episodes from an entire series with Series Catch-Up. Shows are available from all BBC TV channels and radio stations, and BBC Wales content shown on S4C. Inside Plex, you can view the most popular iPlayer content, highlights selected by the BBC, and browse by channel, day, genre or format, or use the search feature to find exactly what you’re looking for.
Next up, we have a couple of new ones that I know will be heavily in my rotation. Daniel Metz, Isaac and Scott created plug-ins for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Tons of content, and lovely organization.

I am very excited about the Daily Show plug-in, but I have a much feature request:
It would be great if there was a way to go through all the content by date, like break up everything by year, then month, then day. That way, it would be possible to watch episodes from years back more easily.
Other than that request, GREAT JOB to all involved.
this is great … anyone know of a simple way to get the daily show and colbert report viewable in canada ? Is there a simple proxy that could be set up ?
Thanks for everything thus far !! Plex is amazing.
Brilliant work on the Daily Show plugin! As I watch it almost daily, this one is a real time-saver for me. Keep up the excellent work!
Great work guys
Whatabout some Dutch/Belgian content?
What about the Swedish plugin? when will it be released?

I pledged earlier that I would send $10 to the person that created a plug in for the Daily Show. Since it was a team effort I raised the amount to $10.02 so that it can be split evening three ways.
I know; I’m just generous that way.
How do you guys keep up with this pace. I’m loving the updates that you guys keep throwing at us.
Yay! iPlayer at last. Thanks very much James.
What font set is that you’re using in the screenshots?
@RobertJ: Good eyes. We’re making some changes to the fonts, what you’re looking at there is Myriad Pro. The changes will be in the next release.
@elan: Ah, excellent. The fonts were pretty much the last thing bothering me.
As an anal graphic designer, can I request that you turn off justification while you’re at it? Everything would look and read a lot better if it were just ranged left.
@RobertJ: Yes, thanks for mentioning that, I’ve noticed that summaries can look crappy with full-justification in areas.
Wow. Plex is quickly going from “holy cow that’s neat” to “OMG that’s amazing!”
You guys rock!
Very nice all these plugins, i’m waiting for the next release!

Hay Elan –
The Tivo plugin looks great! Has there been any talk about one for DishNetwork DVR’s?
@Equusz, I haven’t heard any talk of one yet.
