- How do I add internet video such as TED, YouTube, CNET etc?
- Internet sources are added using the App Store found in the Applications menu. See the following screencast for more info. vimeo.com/3315184
- One of the plug-ins has stopped working.
- If a plug-in stops working, it’s likely that the structure of the site changed. This doesn’t happen very frequently with most sites, but it’s a definite possibility. When this occurs, an entity we call the “Campfire Robot” springs into action automatically and tracks us down to let us know, and shortly thereafter we can push an update. As such, if a site stops working, the best thing to do is to check the App Store for updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, check your install history to see if an update got installed while you were getting coffee.
- I don’t see the Applications Menu Item.
- If you previously used v5 of Plex we suggest deleting the folder called Plex found in ~/Library/Application Support/. Many things have changed and a fresh install will ensure the best performance with Plex.
- How do I make Movies and TV Shows show up in their respective areas with poster art, plot info, etc?

App Store: Politics and Indie Rock
There’s some new stuff for you to enjoy in the Plex App Store today. First of all, we have a plug-in for the popular Daily Kos site. If progressive politics if your thing, you’ll likely enjoy this one.

If you prefer to get your politics directly from the White House, Chris Tarczon (author of the popular IGN plug-in) wrote a plug-in which gives you access to Obama’s weekly addresses (in HD!) and other White House content.

And for those of you who don’t care a whit about (American) politics, but like your rock indie flavored, install the Pitchfork TV plug-in, which provides access to a *ton* of content, including band interviews, live performances, music videos, and more.

We’ve also released an update to the CNET plug-in so that the “Today on CNET” section actually reflects the current date.

Hm, AppStore says my CNet plugin is up-to-date but it’s still february 26th in CNet-land.
@Lars: sorry, minor glitch, try again and you’ll see the update.
Another great political plug-in to consider is democracynow.org — It would be great to watch Amy Goodman on Plex. Thanks for the life-improving software.
Any chance you guys can filter out all the plugins that only work in the USA? Here in blighty I can’t get half of them to work because of where I live. Plex already knows my location for the weather, can you perhaps use that?
If you use weather location as a filter, you need to change the weather service. In Norway, where I live, only a few cities are covered by the current service.
@Weavus
I would suggest some kind of rating mechanism, where users kann give 0-5 stars to the usefulness of an app and also check an attribute e.g. does not work outside US.
I think its not easy to figure out that it doesn’t work outside the USA when you are sitting in the USA.
For me, sitting in Carinthia / Austria most of the Apps are therefore not very useful, because they don’t work here
I was about to tell you guys to stop focus on the plugins and instead put some work into other stuff, like the over complicated music player. Then I saw the Pitchfork plugin and I’m never going to complain again. You guys are amazing
I just want to say thank you for the continued efforts and congrats on the AMAZING progress.
