Release: Plex/Seven 0.7.7 – A Few Small Repairs

February 08th, 2009 | Category: Release | Author: lamnina

As much as we try to ensure the quality of every release, there can always be some gremlins that sneak in, which is why it’s important to make it extremely easy to make new releases. After all, there’s a lot of stuff happening between writing a line of code and getting that code into your living rooms.

Luckily, we have a few scripts written, and there are really only a few simple steps: The first script builds a release, tags it, and packages it up into a DMG. The second one uploads it to our server, distributes it to a set of initial mirrors, and uploads metadata about the new release. The third “throws the switch” on the new release.

Here are the changes in this new release, which can be downloaded here (source here):

  • FIX: iPhoto events sort by date, not by name.
  • FIX: Slow access to media, marking unwatched/watched, etc.
  • FIX: The HTTP receive timeout was increased to 15 seconds, to hopefully allow TVDB time to respond. Thanks to Todd L on the forums for suggesting this fix.
  • FIX: IFO files weren’t showing up in DVD video directories.
  • FIX: The MediaStream “Info List” view mode was tweaked to make the list the same size and positioning vertically as the regular list view.

Enjoy! This is Barkley relaxing in his favorite spot of grass on the island, in the remote town of Hana.

    Road to Hana is wicked. Turned back when we were half way there because everyone was getting car sick. Thanks for the fixes.

    Sweet; I thought it had been a while since Plex updated :-P

    @Atrus: Please head to the forums if you haven’t already to discuss more.

    @InterLoop: Tags away! Pushed now.

    @Don: Yeah, that’s a common theme for Hana, heavy vomiting followed by serious relaxation. Feed them all lots of ginger next time.

    “Heavy vomiting followed by serious relaxation.” Sounds like a typical Sunday to me. :)

    Yes, I am waiting for this fix too. I have some movies that have some masaic in it, while Plex will exit at those frames, while VLC can ignore the masaic and continue to playback.

    Barkley is the best thing in Plex :)

    you should release “all-Barkley” version!

  15. Dan from Sweden February 8th, 2009 9:29 pm

    Visited Maui this past november and it was beautiful. Took the drive to Hana and it was awesome. Felt like a race car driver. The drive back in pitch black darkness wasn´t as much fun ;) Some really nice scenery and water falls on the way.

    Thanks for a great app. My Tvix/Popcorn Hour friends are jealous :)
    Btw, I’ve seen ways to shut down Plex and Mac through the Harmony remote through scripts, but is there a way to build that into the app from start ie when you exit Plex you get the option to also shut down the OS?

  16. Rylin February 10th, 2009 11:54 am

    @Dan: why not just sleep?

  17. Dan from Sweden February 11th, 2009 2:33 am

    Just that I want to shut it all down when Im not using it. No big deal I guess, but it would be nice with that option when I quit Plex.

    In sleep mode does the Mac use any power?

  18. Tino from Germany February 12th, 2009 11:30 am

    Rains and cold winds in Hamburg!

    Thanks for that new release, keep it up!

    I support “Dan from Sweden” voting for the shutdown/power off button right from plex; sleeping may be eating up just 3W, but if I am away from home 10h, why should I leave the box on?
