- How do I add internet video such as TED, YouTube, CNET etc?
- Internet sources are added using the App Store found in the Applications menu. See the following screencast for more info. vimeo.com/3315184
- One of the plug-ins has stopped working.
- If a plug-in stops working, it’s likely that the structure of the site changed. This doesn’t happen very frequently with most sites, but it’s a definite possibility. When this occurs, an entity we call the “Campfire Robot” springs into action automatically and tracks us down to let us know, and shortly thereafter we can push an update. As such, if a site stops working, the best thing to do is to check the App Store for updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, check your install history to see if an update got installed while you were getting coffee.
- I don’t see the Applications Menu Item.
- If you previously used v5 of Plex we suggest deleting the folder called Plex found in ~/Library/Application Support/. Many things have changed and a fresh install will ensure the best performance with Plex.
- How do I make Movies and TV Shows show up in their respective areas with poster art, plot info, etc?

Plex/Seven: iTunes DRM audio playback
I’ll keep this one short and sweet: That DRM music you got from the iTunes store, those 10,000 tracks you own, those 30,000 bottles of Pepsi you purchased in order to win them, those dentist bills for repairing the damage to your teeth from drinking the Pepsi, not in vain. No, my friends, you will be able to play them in Plex/Seven, and thanks to James for making it happen!
(And how, you might ask, would be the best way to play tracks from iTunes in Plex? Let’s just say that’s a topic of a future post. How future, you might ask? Not very.)
Barkley, while being a staunch anti-DRM canine, will still make an appearance for this feature.

I wonder how you do it! Maybe launching iTunes in the background?
Anyway it’s great news!
No iTunes needed
Awesome!
Maybe you got AirTunes working for us with Airport Expresses as well? Come on, you can tell us!
Woo!!
I don’t have any iTunes DRM’d music, but alot of non techie mates do.
This will be music to their ears *groan*
Great work!
Brilliant! Can’t wait for the new version!
Does this mean that movies and videos downloaded from itunes will also play?
I think I can guess how. I believe Quicktime can play back DRM files.
That’s just so awesome !
Keep up the good work guys !
You guys are insane! Plex has been my favorite piece of software for months already, and here you go making it ten times better?!
Seriously, I’m going to have to get my paypal credentials and give you some more beer money
Woo!
Is there an API for DRM’d video playback as well that you might be able to use?
any chance this includes itunes DRM video files as well?
Barkley looks too clean cut in that picture. It doesn’t live up to his reputation.
Perhaps I missed this long ago when the Barkley posts started.. but what kind of dog is Barkley?
Would it be playing it while watching an iTunes visualizer?
Does this have anything to do with QTFairUse/FairKeys/hymn projects?
I’ll ask, too - does this include videos bought from iTS? I have several and am hanging on to Front Row for this reason alone.
Sorry, no support for DRM videos (for now, at least). Apple makes it impossible to play these officially unless you’re QuickTime or FrontRow.
@Danny: Barkley is bullmastiff + ridgeback — we think!
