+ Top FAQs with Plex - for more help please check the WIKI.
- How do I add internet video such as TED, YouTube, CNET etc?
- Internet sources are added using the App Store found in the Applications menu. See the following screencast for more info. vimeo.com/3315184
- One of the plug-ins has stopped working.
- If a plug-in stops working, it’s likely that the structure of the site changed. This doesn’t happen very frequently with most sites, but it’s a definite possibility. When this occurs, an entity we call the “Campfire Robot” springs into action automatically and tracks us down to let us know, and shortly thereafter we can push an update. As such, if a site stops working, the best thing to do is to check the App Store for updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, check your install history to see if an update got installed while you were getting coffee.
- I don’t see the Applications Menu Item.
- If you previously used v5 of Plex we suggest deleting the folder called Plex found in ~/Library/Application Support/. Many things have changed and a fresh install will ensure the best performance with Plex.
- How do I make Movies and TV Shows show up in their respective areas with poster art, plot info, etc?

Release 0.5.21: Drunk enough to know better
Top two reasons why I shouldn’t have released 0.5.20 quite yet:
- I was heading out to a long dinner party, virtually assuring that there’d be a problem I couldn’t address for many hours and beers.
- I changed things after the testers did their work. Bad me, no biscuit.
Two changes in this release:
- FIX: Crash on entering settings menu. Elan kan’t kode.
- FIX: Restore screen backlight level on exit.
The new release is available in the usual place. Will you forgive me if I post another photo of Barkley? This is him watching as his buddy Poots does tricks at the behest of our friend Heather. French Bulldogs can fly.

Great pic!
Thx for all your effort.
elan, does this release include MediaStream 0.93?
And by the way, you. are. awesome.
We forgive you. For Barkley and for the settings crash. Plex rocks!
Everything works as advertized for me! No need to apologize, Elan, but the picture is welcome
Thanks!!
As much as I love every new release of Plex, I think I look forward to the Barkley pics as much as the bug fixes.
That woman is hot!
With that said, I’d like to vote in favor for giving you (elan) a new nickname. You could at least make pimp.plexapp.com a working alias to this blog of yours.
Thanks for all the amazing updates, elan & crew!
I liked the new release almost as much as the nice girl in the picture
Now CPU is a real problem. It took 30% of my Macbook Pro’s CPU when Plex is idle!!
@Pacino: It’s a known issue since the first release and certainly nothing has changed in the last few releases to make things any worse.

windAws?
@Job: Internally drive letters are mapped to paths, dating back from when the code ran on the XBox, would probably be better to show a better default
Since updating to 5.0.21 (from 5.0.19) the apple remote seems to be missing alot of commands. I didn’t clear out the advanced settings, and I’ve got a custom keymap so I didn’t clear that either.
Maybe I’ll try a reinstall.
Clearing out advanced settings seems to have fixed it.
Please continue a tradition of including chicks in the release photos.
Dogs are so last year.
hot chick + dogs + plex = hot!
+1 more Heather pics with each release
What am I, chopped liver?
Hahaha, poor Barkley. We still love you too
