- How do I add internet video such as TED, YouTube, CNET etc?
- Internet sources are added using the App Store found in the Applications menu. See the following screencast for more info. vimeo.com/3315184
- One of the plug-ins has stopped working.
- If a plug-in stops working, it’s likely that the structure of the site changed. This doesn’t happen very frequently with most sites, but it’s a definite possibility. When this occurs, an entity we call the “Campfire Robot” springs into action automatically and tracks us down to let us know, and shortly thereafter we can push an update. As such, if a site stops working, the best thing to do is to check the App Store for updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, check your install history to see if an update got installed while you were getting coffee.
- I don’t see the Applications Menu Item.
- If you previously used v5 of Plex we suggest deleting the folder called Plex found in ~/Library/Application Support/. Many things have changed and a fresh install will ensure the best performance with Plex.
- How do I make Movies and TV Shows show up in their respective areas with poster art, plot info, etc?

Plex in the Wall Street Journal
Hey, pretty cool, we got a mention in the Wall Street Journal on July 24th. I spoke with the reporter for a while, but unfortunately Barkley got left on the cutting room floor. The article is called “Feeding Your TV With Video From the Computer or Web” by Christopher Lawton, and he wrote:
10 commentsDevelopers of … OSXBMC, which this month was rebranded Plex, say [it plays] more formats than rival products directly from Apple, such as Front Row and Apple TV. Apple declined to comment for this article.

Congrats! It would be an amazing day if Apple actually chose to support this. Long shot? yea but the more mainstream press the better the possibility.
WooHoo!

It isn’t much, but it’s a start!

LOL that was a great start to the article: A guy takes home video of his kid but it won’t play on his @TV. I think that sums up the thing that is most wrong with @TV, the 360, and PS3- they are locked down not only using DRM but limitation of file formats popular for so-called piracy.
I just discovered Plex on Monday and am quite happy moving my video library from my 360 to a mini with Plex on my 42″ LCD. I’m quite happy and can’t wait for more goodies from Plex and XBMC.
elan, I am disappointed in your failure to reference the GPL in this article! :-p
i’m just here to say i check the website religiously for new releases! is there a rss feed or email list for notifications? (sorry, i don’t do twitter) thanks elan!
@goldragon: Your best bet is to subscribe to the feed for this blog, as 90% of the posts are release announcements. Scroll down to the Feedburner icon on the right.
what’s next? you doing an interview on G4 tv elan?
wow…not that it matters but I’m sure that pissed the XBMC people off, primarily the same ones who voted you off the island
not at all, we are well aware plex’s roots and the vast majority of the code is xbmc.
