Haha, I love the fact that all the links that have screenshots, are using Aeon and not PMIII

Maybe it’s a sign that Aeon should end up as the official skin. And here I was really digging leo.

Hey elan, since we (HA! like I help in do any work) have this great new name PlexSQ, it makes the fork more official’ish. What say we ditch the PMIII default theme and bundle Aeon with PMIII being a 2/2? Maybe we (there I go again) could partner with the Aeon team and maybe help em out with bugfixes that specifically relate to PlexSQ. This might foster more stabled Aeon development releases around the Plex.

I have another question, I dont wanna go rehashing bad blood. But since its been a number of weeks since the fork, how has the relationship been with Team XBMC? Do they still hate us? Is there really any been any development with XBMC for OSX? /endlongbreath

Having Aeon as default theme would be aswsome, but only if it can be made “snappier” and without all the current buggs.

I would like to know if an app like this would be there for windows vista… it would be nice to have one like this where I can sort and manage all my movies the way I want.

you can download the windows version here:http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=87054&package_id=267023

However, it is still in pre-alpha stage. I am unaware of the system requirements.

@ekse, XBMC for Windows (XP and Vista, 32-bit and 64-bit) can be downloaded at the link tetrakis gave above, it is not quite as stable as XBMC for Linux/Mac/Xbox but should run fine if you got an graphic controller (and device drivers for it) which supports OpenGL 2.0 (technically all the way down to OpenGL 1.4 + GLSL should work but OpenGL 2.0 garantee GLSL support which is the minimum requirement for XBMC).

@dende, there is no bad blood between Team-XBMC and Team-XBMC, the relationship and e-mail communication between the majoity of individual members is still open.

Yes Team-XBMC is activly developing our “XBMC for Mac” version (no binary release yet though so you have to compile it yourself if you want to try it), so yes we are making progress with our own Mac OS X port, and you have to remember that as XBMC is a cross-platform software any improvements made to any of the other platforms is also instantly an improvement for the Mac OS X port as well.

Compared to Plex the most unique Mac OS X specific progress we made in our XBMC SVN are initial Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) support, and the beginning of PPC (PowerPC) porting, (PPC is now initially for the Linux port but again as XBMC is a cross-platform software the PowerPC porting is the first step for PowerPC for Mac too).

@Gamester17 Oooo, I’d love some ppc support, my poor ol’ bedroom g4 media imac is crippled with only vlc to provide decent playback on it’s little 700mhz processor.

Exciting to see all this recognition for such a great port of the XBMC application. Elan and team (and XBMC team) really deserve it!

Regarding the skin, personally, I - or in fact my wife :D - am quite habituated to PMIII, I hope it will still be supported, I don’t succeed to accustom to AEON :(

  13. Gamester17 July 9th, 2008 1:31 am

Recognition and spreading the news is is good, still, I am I am a bit sad that Elan have not yet posted anything on this (now Plex) blog about XBMC being a finalist in SourceForge.net 2008 Community Choice Awards
    http://xbmc.org/news/article/34481/
    http://sourceforge.net/awards/cca/?group_id=87054

Plex would benefit from the press that would generate as well, as from the ‘big picture’ point of view; if XBMC wins any categories in this years SF.NET CCA then XBMC will get more attention drawn to it, which will mean more users which in turn means more developers as well, and more developers working on XBMC will automatically benefit any fork of XBMC, such as Plex.

Anyway, the voting ends the 20th of July, so I really hope that we will see some support from the Plex community.

  14. elan July 9th, 2008 1:26 pm

@dende: Agreed Aeon is nice, but I think there are still issues we’d need to work out in order to make it the default skin. There’s some discussion in the forum about it. For now, PM3 is the most “compatible” skin.

In terms of the “bad blood”, I’m in touch with most of the developers in a very friendly capacity. Others I haven’t spoken with since the fork.
