Update on the GMA X3100 issue
I now have the hardware in-house, and have confirmed that the problem appears to be with the ARB YUV-to-RGB conversion. If I enable software conversion (which takes a rather large hit on the CPU), things look fine. I’ll look some more later on tonight.

You, my friend, are awesome. I sense more donations in your future! Thanks!
Ooooh, this is great news!!! Thankfully it isn’t going to be hard to talk my wife into buying one of these … http://axiotron.com/index.php?id=modbook
Yes!! Thanks elan!
Elan, s/w fallback is what I was saying we could fall back to in the worst case since it works on all graphics cards.

Hopefully you can nail this though, I wouldn’t want to do s/w YUV2RGB since the X3100 is fairly powerful.
Does anyone know if the Intel GMA X3100 come in stand-alone PCI, AGP, or PCIe card from any manufacturer (any at all)?
If it does then maybe money to buy one could be donated to D4rk since he is the OpenGL graphics specialist?
If a stand-alone card is not available then what is the cheapest new desktop barebone or laptop featuring Intel GMA X3100? It does not have to be a Mac (as OSx86 could be temporarly installed by D4rk if needed, just for debugging this.
I found the Acer Aspire AS4720-4199 at $499(US) on Newegg.com but maybe it could be found cheaper via pricerunner.com
The cheapest barabone desktop I could find was Shuttle SG31G2B but then you need a CPU, RAM, a harddrive, and a DVD-ROM drive as well so it quickly becomes more expensive than what you would think, making the above laptop prices just as attractive.
Gamester17, I have an X3100 based system, however this is an OSX driver specific issue. The X3100 doesn’t come as a standalone card, since it’s part of Intel’s mobile GM965 motherboard chipset.
Gamester17, I did give OSx86 a shot on my X3100 system but it didn’t play nice with it (not surprisingly). AFAIK, there are lot of issues installing OSx86 on X3100 based systems since Apple hasn’t released any non-laptop systems that use that chipset.
@Gamester17 & @d4k: Please refrain from discussing the installation of OS X on non-Apple hardware. It’s not legal, and we don’t condone it.
In terms of d4rk, “Specialist” sounds rather clinical; I prefer to think of d4rk as the OpenGL “Wizard”, especially since he does things that are indistinguishable from magic
