Like Constantine, I have “Headphones” and “USB Audio”, and USB Audio is the only way to achieve 5.1 in every Mac (including MacBook and Mac Mini) to analog-only speakers. And these speakers, although there are not the most accuracy, they are today outrageously priced :)

It would be really wonderful if you could add support to this USB Audio more than 2.0 (it currently supports that), and XBMC on OSX would be, at least for me, absolutely perfect. The only player I have tried with this level of support is VLC, so it would not be very difficult to get this functionality, as long the source is there.

Thanks for the excellent work, XBMC is already fantastic!

Mac Mini, model identifier Macmini2,1

Exact same as above with the MBP3,1.

I would imagine all these output names would be enumerated in some language/plist file somewhere. It'd be a lot easier than asking people in the comments. I'll see if I can find one.

Macbook Pro, model identifier MacbookPro3,1

With nothing in the output jack: "Internal Speakers"
With an optical cable in the output jack: "Digital Out"
With headphones or any other 1/8" line in the output jack: "Headphones"

I have a white 24" iMac and got:

Analog and Digital: Built-in Output

I get music playing using analog, using digital xbmc crashes when opening a mp3.

Amazing work with xbmc for osx! I am very impressed :-)
I'm using 0.01 and got got HD videos playing (without audio, some crashes, some playing in 10x the speed). Great work!

Does anyone know how I can go backwards (one directory back) using my keyboard?
